So you know how when someone broadcasts a target, you get a nice little message in the broadcast tab of your fleet window saying [timestamp] - Target: Abadperson (histerribleship)
Similarly, when someone in your own fleet broadcasts for shield/armour you get the following message
[timestamp] - Agoodperson needs [shield/armour]
I think this is wrong. While my brain might be sponge-like in structure, it is not so much in it's capacity to remember the shiptype of all 200 people in a fleet that i am supposed to be repping.
Given that the functionality is there to show the shiptype to the recipient of the broadcast, could it not be expanded out to the other areas where it is needed?
This is a good idea, i dare you to dispute it.

This is a bad idea, because then CCP would be defining what snowflake is. I do not wish to make this idea any more than it is already |

Veshta Yoshida wrote: You are suggesting replacing a direct call for a specific rep type with a ship type .. ignoring that you operate mixed fleets (good to be inclusive) and that a lot of ships can be either shield or armour.. why does it matter what ship a person is flying as long as he pushes the correct distress button?
But the suggestion that knowing a person's ship-type should somehow make the logi life better/easier makes little to no sense, that is not to say that it shouldn't/couldn't be added just for completions/consistency's sake.
1. I was lazy, sorry. I didn't mean to imply removing the type of rep required.
2. DO YOU EVEN FLY LOGISTICS BRO? Tell me this, how long does it take to lock up a frigate? Approximately 4-5 seconds. That is an entire rep cycle. I'm not sure how shockingly bad you are at flying logistics, but should an enemy fleet changes primary, you decycle your reps while locking up their new primary. Additionally, in large fleet fights you have suck things as 'rep primaries' where you focus your reps on one person to keep them alive. If your logistics pilots are waiting for the logi anchor to lock up and tell them to change 'rep primary,' reps could be up to 10 seconds delayed. As it currently stands, you could misinterpret someone broadcasting for reps from a frigate, as a change in enemy primary, meaning that you're not repping them.
All these additions you suggest actually require a substantial amount of work done coding, for little or no benefit. Sharing watchlists, could be a good idea if you only had 15 people to watchlist ever, however I regularly find myself in need of 20-30 WL slots for people who need watchlisting. You already have the ability to filter broadcasts, and introducing further filtering can only increase the delay between someone broadcasting and the broadcast being received.
But hey, what do i know, i only fly logistics for 3 hours a day in every single capacity |
